Recently, the People’s Bank of China issued the “Payment Guide for Foreigners Coming to China”, which uses pictures and texts to introduce the acquisition methods and use processes of 5 payment services such as mobile payment, bank card, and cash. You can flexibly use your favorite payment service according to your needs.

Accelerate the promotion of merchants to open overseas bank card acceptance, further optimize foreign currency exchange services, and promote overseas bank cards to be more conveniently bound to WeChat or Alipay… In recent times, China’s payment services have been upgraded again, and many foreign friends have praised: “One mobile phone can travel around, and payment in China is very smooth” and “Multiple payment methods make my life and work in China more convenient.” The People’s Bank of China has issued multiple language versions of the “Guide to Payment Services in China”, which clearly states that foreigners in China can choose a series of payment services such as mobile payment, bank cards, and cash. In terms of mobile payment, foreigners in China can choose Alipay, WeChat Pay, Cloud QuickPass and other means, and transactions below a certain amount are exempt from collecting identity information.

  • WeChat Pay: supports binding of bank cards such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Diners Club, and Discover;
  • Cloud QuickPass: Currently, card binding only supports UnionPay cards issued in specific regions such as Hong Kong and Macau. Foreigners visiting China can apply for a “Travel Pass Card” and recharge it on the Cloud QuickPass App, and then use it in daily online and offline consumption scenarios.
